Chubu Centrair International Airport is a major international and domestic airport serving the Chubu region of Japan, including the cities of Nagoya, Gifu, and Mie Prefecture. It is built on an artificial island in Ise Bay, approximately 35 kilometers south of Nagoya city center. The airport opened in February 2005, replacing Nagoya Airport as the primary international gateway for central Japan. It was constructed in time to serve visitors attending the 2005 World Exposition held in Aichi Prefecture. A second terminal was opened in 2019 to handle growing low-cost carrier traffic. Chubu Centrair serves as a hub for Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, and offers connections to destinations across Asia, Europe, and North America. The airport is known for its passenger-friendly design, featuring a sky promenade observation deck and a variety of dining and retail options.

Getting to & from
The Meitetsu Airport Line provides a direct rail link between the airport and Nagoya Station in approximately 28 minutes.
