Düsseldorf Airport, known as Düsseldorf International Airport until March 2013, is an international airport serving Düsseldorf, the capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the Rhine-Ruhr area, the largest metropolitan region in Germany. It is about 7 kilometres north of downtown Düsseldorf and some 30 kilometres southwest of Essen and about 15 kilometres south of Duisburg in the Rhine-Ruhr area, Germany's largest metropolitan area.
