It operated as one of Italy's main private carriers, competing with Alitalia on domestic routes and expanding into European destinations over the years. The airline became a significant player in the Italian aviation market, particularly following the liberalization of European air travel. It was eventually acquired by Alitalia, with full integration completed around 2009, effectively ending Air One as an independent brand. At its peak, Air One operated an extensive network of domestic Italian routes as well as international services to various European cities, utilizing a fleet primarily composed of Boeing 737 aircraft.
