Minsk National Airport (MSQ/UMMS) is the main international airport of Belarus, located approximately 42 kilometres east of the capital city Minsk. It serves as the primary hub for Belavia, the national carrier of Belarus, and handles the majority of the country's international passenger and cargo traffic. The airport underwent significant modernization and expansion in the 2000s and 2010s, improving its capacity and facilities to accommodate growing passenger volumes. It operates two terminals, with Terminal 2 being the larger and more modern facility opened in 2016. Following the 2021 forced diversion of a Ryanair flight to Minsk and subsequent international sanctions against Belarus, many European and Western carriers suspended or significantly reduced their services to the airport, markedly altering its route network.
