Jorge Chávez International Airport is the busiest airport in Peru and one of the most important aviation hubs in South America. Located in Callao, adjacent to Lima, it serves as the primary entry point for international travelers visiting the country and handles the majority of Peru's air traffic. The airport is named after Jorge Chávez Dartnell, a pioneering Peruvian-French aviator who completed the first flight over the Alps in 1910. Operated by Lima Airport Partners (LAP), a consortium led by Fraport AG, the facility has undergone significant modernization and expansion in recent years. A major new terminal expansion project has been underway to address growing passenger demand, with a second terminal under construction to significantly increase capacity. The airport handles tens of millions of passengers annually and connects Lima to destinations across the Americas, Europe, and beyond.
