Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa, coded TIA/LATI, is the main and largest airport in Albania, located near the town of Rinas approximately 17 kilometres northwest of Tirana. It serves as the country's principal hub for international passenger and cargo traffic, connecting Albania to destinations across Europe and beyond. The airport underwent significant modernization and expansion in the 2000s under a concession operated by Tirana Airport Partners, a consortium that included Hochtief and other international investors. A new terminal opened in 2007, substantially increasing capacity and improving facilities for passengers. In recent years the airport has seen strong passenger growth, handling several million passengers annually, driven by the Albanian diaspora, tourism, and increased low-cost carrier activity. It is the only commercial international airport currently operating in Albania.
