Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, officially named Aeroporto di Catania-Fontanarossa and also known as Vincenzo Bellini Airport, is the primary international airport serving eastern Sicily, Italy. Located approximately 5 kilometres south of the city centre, it sits close to the Ionian Sea and in the shadow of the active volcano Mount Etna. It is consistently ranked as one of the busiest airports in Italy by passenger throughput, handling tens of millions of passengers annually. The airport serves as an important hub for domestic Italian routes as well as connections throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. A significant expansion and modernisation project, known as Fontanarossa 2.0, has been underway to increase the airport's capacity to meet growing demand. The airport is managed by SAC (Società Aeroporto Catania).
