Macau International Airport
Macau's gateway built on reclaimed land in the Pearl River Delta.
- ›The runway is built on a narrow artificial island reclaimed from the sea, extending into the Pearl River estuary.
- ›Air Macau, the flag carrier of Macau, is headquartered at and hubbed from MFM.
- ›The airport handled approximately 9 million passengers in its peak year before the COVID-19 pandemic severely reduced traffic.
- ›Macau is also accessible by high-speed ferry from Hong Kong, which competes directly with some air routes.
- ›The airport's unique layout required innovative engineering due to the soft reclaimed land on which it is built.
