Bari Karol Wojtyła International Airport is the primary airport serving the Puglia region of southern Italy, located approximately 8 kilometres northwest of the city of Bari. Named after Pope John Paul II, who visited the city in 1984, it is one of the busiest airports in southern Italy and serves as an important hub for the region's tourism and commerce. The airport handles millions of passengers annually and connects Bari to numerous European and domestic destinations. It plays a central role in supporting Puglia's growing appeal as a travel destination, with traffic driven by both leisure and business travellers.
