Eduardo Gomes International Airport is the primary commercial aviation hub serving Manaus, the capital of Amazonas state in northwestern Brazil. Named after Brazilian aviation pioneer Eduardo Gomes, it handles both domestic and international traffic and serves as a critical gateway to the Amazon region. The airport is located approximately 17 kilometers north of downtown Manaus and is one of the busiest airports in Brazil by passenger volume. It plays a vital role in connecting a region where air transport is often the most practical means of travel due to the surrounding Amazon rainforest and river systems. The facility is operated by Vinci Airports, which took over management as part of Brazil's airport privatization program. It supports both commercial passenger services and cargo operations, the latter being especially significant given Manaus's status as a free trade zone (Zona Franca de Manaus).
