Gateway serving Greater Cincinnati across the Ohio River.

Opened
1947
Location
Hebron, Kentucky, United States
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is a major commercial airport serving the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area, physically located in Hebron, Boone County, Kentucky, just south of the Ohio River. Despite serving the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, the airport lies entirely within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, which gives it its dual-city designation. The airport was a major hub for Delta Air Lines and its predecessor Comair for many years, making it one of the busiest airports in the Midwest during the late 1990s and 2000s. After Delta significantly reduced operations at CVG following the 2008 financial crisis, the airport repositioned itself and has seen renewed growth with carriers including Amazon Air, which established a major hub there in 2021. CVG is operated by the Kenton County Airport Board and serves both passenger and substantial cargo traffic. Its Amazon Air hub, known as Amazon Air Hub, has become one of the busiest cargo operations in the country, reinforcing CVG's role as a key logistics gateway.
Terminals
CVG has a single terminal building with two concourses, Concourse A and Concourse B, offering approximately 30 gates for passenger operations.
Getting to & from
Ground transportation options include rental cars, taxis, rideshare services, and shuttle buses, with the airport approximately 13 miles southwest of downtown Cincinnati via I-275 and I-71/75.
Airlines here
Major passenger carriers include Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, while Amazon Air operates a major cargo hub at the airport.
Notable facts

  • The airport is physically located in Boone County, Kentucky, not in Ohio or the city of Cincinnati.
  • CVG was once a major Delta Air Lines hub, handling over 20 million passengers annually in its peak years.
  • Comair, a Delta Connection regional carrier, was headquartered at CVG until the airline ceased operations in 2012.
  • The airport covers approximately 7,000 acres and has three runways capable of handling wide-body aircraft.
