The Embraer 170 is a twin-engine narrow-body regional jet developed by Brazilian manufacturer Embraer as part of the E-Jet family. It seats up to 80 passengers in a single-class configuration and was designed to offer mainline comfort on shorter regional routes, featuring a 2-2 seating arrangement that eliminates the dreaded middle seat. The aircraft entered service in 2004 and quickly attracted orders from regional carriers and mainline subsidiaries worldwide. Its advanced avionics, fly-by-wire flight controls, and fuel-efficient GE CF34 engines made it a competitive choice against aircraft from Bombardier and ATR in the regional segment.
