It is consistently one of the busiest airports in Brazil by passenger volume, handling tens of millions of travelers annually and connecting the capital to domestic destinations throughout Brazil as well as international routes. The airport is named after Juscelino Kubitschek, the Brazilian president who championed the construction of Brasília in the late 1950s.
