Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is the largest and busiest airport in Serbia, serving as the main international gateway to the country and the wider Western Balkans region. Located approximately 18 kilometres west of Belgrade city centre near the suburb of Surčin, it handles the majority of Serbia's commercial air traffic. The airport is named after the renowned Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla and serves as the primary hub for Air Serbia, the national carrier. It underwent significant modernisation and expansion efforts in the 2010s and 2020s to accommodate growing passenger numbers, which surpassed 6 million annually before the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2018, the Serbian government signed a concession agreement with French group Vinci Airports to manage and develop the airport over a 25-year period, a deal that has driven further infrastructure investment and capacity upgrades.
