Montenegro Airlines was the national flag carrier of Montenegro, founded in 1994 following the dissolution of Yugoslavia. The airline operated scheduled and charter flights connecting Podgorica and Tivat to major European destinations, serving as the primary aviation link for the small Balkan nation. The airline operated a modest fleet of aircraft and maintained a network covering destinations across Western and Eastern Europe, as well as seasonal routes to popular leisure markets. It was majority state-owned and played a central role in supporting Montenegro's growing tourism industry. Montenegro Airlines ceased operations in October 2021 after decades of financial difficulties, government subsidy disputes, and the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on aviation demand. Its closure marked the end of Montenegro's national carrier era.
