Estonian Air was the national airline of Estonia, operating scheduled passenger services from Tallinn to destinations across Europe. Founded in 1991 following the restoration of Estonian independence, the carrier served as the country's flag carrier for over two decades. The airline faced persistent financial difficulties throughout its history, relying on government subsidies to remain operational. After the European Commission ruled that state aid received by Estonian Air was illegal under EU competition rules, the airline was forced to cease operations. Estonian Air suspended all flights on November 8, 2015, and entered bankruptcy proceedings. Its successor, Nordic Aviation Group (operating as Nordica), was established to continue some air services from Estonia.
