Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, commonly known as Santiago International Airport, is the principal international and domestic aviation hub of Chile. Located in the Pudahuel commune, approximately 15 kilometres northwest of downtown Santiago, it is the busiest airport in Chile and one of the most trafficked in South America, handling tens of millions of passengers annually. The airport serves as the primary hub for LATAM Airlines and its regional subsidiaries, offering connections across Latin America, North America, Europe, Australia, and beyond. It underwent a major expansion and modernization project in recent years, including the construction of a new international terminal complex to accommodate growing passenger demand. Named after Commodore Arturo Merino Benítez, a founder of the Chilean Air Force and pioneer of Chilean aviation, the airport plays a critical strategic and commercial role in the country's economy and connectivity to global markets.
