Auckland International Airport (AKL/NZAA) is New Zealand's largest and busiest airport, handling the vast majority of the country's international air traffic. Located at Māngere, approximately 21 kilometres south of Auckland's city centre, it serves as the primary hub for Air New Zealand and a key transit point for travel across the Pacific and to Australia. The airport operates two main terminal buildings — an international terminal and a domestic terminal — connected by a short walkway. It handles tens of millions of passengers annually and is a critical piece of infrastructure for New Zealand's tourism and trade economy. Auckland Airport is also a publicly listed company on the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX), making it one of the few airports in the world with this structure. Ongoing expansion projects have been planned to increase capacity, including upgrades to international facilities and airside infrastructure.
