Calgary International Airport (YYC) is the largest airport in Alberta and one of the busiest in Canada, serving the city of Calgary and a broad catchment area including southern Alberta and parts of Saskatchewan. It functions as a major hub for domestic, transborder, and international travel, with significant traffic driven by the oil and gas industry, tourism to the Rocky Mountains, and the Calgary Stampede. The airport is operated by the Calgary Airport Authority and underwent a major expansion with the opening of a new international terminal in 2016. YYC offers direct flights to destinations across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, making it a critical node in Canada's aviation network. Located northeast of downtown Calgary, the airport sits at an elevation of approximately 1,084 metres (3,557 feet) above sea level, one of the highest elevations among major Canadian airports, which can affect aircraft performance particularly in warm weather.
Terminals
YYC has one integrated terminal building with domestic, transborder (U.S.), and international concourses, including a dedicated international terminal (Terminal F/D area) opened in 2016.
Getting to & from
Calgary Transit's CTrain Red Line connects the airport directly to downtown Calgary, and numerous taxi, rideshare, and shuttle services are available.
