General Abelardo L. Rodriguez International Airport (IATA: TIJ, ICAO: MMTJ) is the primary commercial airport serving Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Located approximately 7 kilometers east of downtown Tijuana, it sits just south of the US–Mexico border near San Diego, making it one of the most uniquely positioned airports in North America. The airport handles a significant volume of domestic Mexican traffic as well as international routes, particularly to the United States and other destinations. It is named after Mexican general and former president Abelardo L. Rodríguez, who had strong ties to Baja California. A notable feature of the airport is the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) pedestrian bridge, opened in 2015, which connects the terminal directly to a facility in Otay Mesa, San Diego, allowing ticketed passengers to cross the US–Mexico border on foot to access the airport from the American side.
