TravelerPulse profile

Tunisia's modern gateway serving the Hammamet resort region.

Opened
2009
Location
Enfidha, Tunisia
Enfidha–Hammamet International Airport is a relatively new international airport located in the Enfidha area of the Sousse Governorate in Tunisia. It was developed to relieve pressure on Monastir–Habib Bourguiba International Airport and to serve the popular coastal resort areas of Hammamet and Sousse. The airport was built by the TAV Airports consortium and opened in 2009, featuring modern infrastructure designed to handle significant volumes of charter and low-cost holiday traffic. Its primary market is European leisure travelers visiting Tunisia's Mediterranean coastal resorts. Despite its modern facilities and large capacity, the airport has historically operated below its potential throughput, reflecting the fluctuations in Tunisian tourism driven by regional political events and security concerns following the Arab Spring period.
Terminals
The airport features a single modern terminal building designed with capacity for several million passengers annually.
Getting to & from
Ground transport options include taxis, rental cars, and organized coach transfers to the nearby resort towns of Hammamet and Sousse.
Airlines here
The airport is served primarily by European charter and low-cost carriers including Tunisair, TUIfly, and various seasonal charter operators from across Europe.
Notable facts
  • Built and operated by TAV Airports, a Turkish airport management company.
  • Designed with an initial capacity of around 5 million passengers per year.
  • Located approximately 90 km south of Tunis.
  • Primarily serves charter and leisure traffic from European destinations.
  • Opened in 2009 to complement and partially replace Monastir–Habib Bourguiba International Airport for resort traffic.
