Austin's gateway to the world, built on a former air force base.

Opened
1999
Location
Austin, United States
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) serves the Austin metropolitan area in Texas and is one of the fastest-growing major airports in the United States. Opened in 1999, it replaced the old Robert Mueller Municipal Airport and was built on the site of the former Bergstrom Air Force Base, from which it takes its name. The airport has undergone significant expansion in recent years to accommodate Austin's rapid population and economic growth. A new Barbara Jordan Terminal opened concourse expansions, and a second terminal, the South Terminal, handles lower-cost carriers. The airport serves tens of millions of passengers annually and offers nonstop service to numerous domestic and international destinations. AUS is known for its locally inspired dining and retail offerings, as well as a live music program that reflects Austin's identity as the 'Live Music Capital of the World.' The airport is operated by the City of Austin Department of Aviation.

The airport has a main Barbara Jordan Terminal with two concourses and a smaller South Terminal that primarily serves ultra-low-cost carriers such as Allegiant Air.
