Port Moresby Jacksons International Airport (IATA: POM, ICAO: AYPY) is the largest and busiest airport in Papua New Guinea, serving as the main hub for both domestic and international air travel in the country. It is located approximately 8 kilometres northeast of Port Moresby's central business district. The airport underwent significant upgrades in the early 2010s ahead of increased regional traffic, including runway rehabilitation and terminal improvements. It handles the vast majority of PNG's international passenger movements and serves as a critical link for a nation where air travel is often the primary mode of long-distance transport due to challenging terrain. Named after John Jackson, a World War II Royal Australian Air Force officer, the airport has historical significance dating back to wartime use in the Pacific theatre. It operates both international and domestic terminals and is managed by the National Airports Corporation of Papua New Guinea.
