Congonhas–Deputado Freitas Nobre Airport (IATA: CGH, ICAO: SBSP) is one of the busiest airports in Brazil, located approximately 8 kilometers south of São Paulo's city center in the Congonhas neighborhood. It primarily serves domestic routes, functioning as a key hub for short and medium-haul flights within Brazil. The airport is particularly important for the São Paulo–Rio de Janeiro air bridge (Ponte Aérea), one of the world's busiest air routes, connecting Congonhas with Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro. Its central location makes it a preferred choice for business travelers despite its limited international capacity. Due to its urban setting and single runway configuration, Congonhas operates under strict slot controls and has faced capacity challenges over the years. A fatal accident in 2007 involving a TAM Airlines aircraft led to significant safety upgrades and runway improvements at the facility.
