Aeroperú, officially known as Empresa de Transportes Aéreos del Perú, was the national airline of Peru. Founded in 1973 as a state-owned carrier, it served as the country's primary international and domestic air transport operator for over two decades. The airline operated routes throughout South America, North America, and Europe at its peak, becoming a significant player in Latin American aviation. It utilized a fleet of modern jets including the Boeing 727 and later the Boeing 757 during its operational years. Aeroperú ceased operations in 1999 following a combination of financial difficulties, increased competition, and the aftermath of a fatal accident in 1996. The airline's closure marked the end of Peru's state-owned flag carrier era.
