Jet Airways was one of India's largest and most prominent full-service airlines, founded by entrepreneur Naresh Goyal. Operating as an air taxi operator from 1992 and receiving scheduled airline status in 1995, it grew rapidly to serve domestic and international routes across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. At its peak, Jet Airways was considered India's second-largest airline by market share and was known for its relatively high service standards compared to budget competitors. It operated a modern mixed fleet and was a member of no major global alliance, though it had significant codeshare partnerships with multiple carriers. In April 2019, Jet Airways suspended all operations due to a severe financial crisis and mounting debt, grounding its entire fleet. Creditors took the airline through insolvency proceedings, and a consortium led by Jalan-Kalrock was approved to revive it. As of the mid-2020s, efforts to restart operations were ongoing but faced prolonged regulatory and financial hurdles.
