Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (IATA: TMP, ICAO: EFTP) is an international airport serving Tampere, Finland's third-largest city, and the surrounding Pirkanmaa region. Located in the municipality of Pirkkala, approximately 15 kilometres southwest of Tampere city centre, the airport handles both scheduled passenger services and significant military traffic, as it doubles as a Finnish Air Force base. The airport has historically served as a low-cost carrier gateway to the Tampere region, with Ryanair operating routes to several European destinations. Passenger volumes fluctuate with seasonal demand and airline network changes. The facility is owned and operated by Finavia, the state-owned company that manages Finland's airport network. Despite its modest size, the airport plays an important regional role, providing an alternative to Helsinki-Vantaa for travellers in central and western Finland.
