Malmö Airport, officially known as Malmö Sturup Airport, is the primary commercial airport serving the city of Malmö and the broader Skåne region in southern Sweden. Located approximately 30 kilometres east of central Malmö near the town of Sturup, the airport has served international and domestic routes since the 1970s. The airport handles both scheduled and charter passenger traffic, with a focus on leisure routes to southern European destinations alongside some business travel. While it is smaller than nearby Copenhagen Airport across the Øresund strait, it offers an alternative for travellers in the region. In recent years, Malmö Airport has faced competition from Copenhagen Airport, which is accessible via the Øresund Bridge, leading some airlines to consolidate their Scandinavian operations at the larger Danish hub. Nevertheless, the airport continues to serve as an important regional facility for southern Sweden.
