Djibouti-Ambouli Airport is the primary and only international airport serving Djibouti City and the Republic of Djibouti. Located approximately five kilometers from the city center, it handles the majority of the country's commercial air traffic as well as military operations. The airport sits in a strategically important location near the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, making Djibouti a key transit hub between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. It shares its facilities with military users, including French and American military forces stationed in the country.
