Sohag International Airport (also spelled Suhaj) is a civil airport serving the Sohag Governorate in Upper Egypt, located along the Nile Valley. It was developed to improve air connectivity for a region historically underserved by commercial aviation, reducing reliance on Cairo or Luxor airports for residents of the area. The airport handles both domestic routes within Egypt and a limited number of international services, particularly to Gulf destinations popular with Egyptian migrant workers and pilgrims. It plays a role in supporting Umrah and Hajj traffic for the region. Sohag Airport is operated under the Egyptian Airports Company and has undergone infrastructure improvements as part of Egypt's broader effort to develop regional airports and stimulate tourism and economic activity in Upper Egypt.
