Costa Brava's gateway serving Barcelona's northern tourism corridor.

Opened

Location
Girona, Spain
Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO/LEGE) is a regional international airport located approximately 12 kilometres south of the city of Girona, in Catalonia, northeastern Spain. It primarily serves leisure travelers visiting the Costa Brava coastline and the broader Catalonia region, and is often used as an alternative entry point for Barcelona, situated about 100 kilometres to the south. The airport gained significant traffic growth in the 2000s following the expansion of low-cost carriers, particularly Ryanair, which established it as one of its key Spanish bases. Passenger volumes have fluctuated considerably over the years, peaking in the late 2000s before declining as some routes shifted back to Barcelona-El Prat. Operated by AENA, Spain's public airport authority, Girona-Costa Brava Airport handles both scheduled and charter flights, with capacity concentrated in the summer tourism season. Despite its relatively modest size, it has played an important role in opening the Costa Brava to mass tourism from the United Kingdom and other European markets.
Terminals
The airport operates a single passenger terminal capable of handling both international and domestic flights.
