Gibraltar Airport (IATA: GIB, ICAO: LXGB) is the sole airport serving the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, situated on the narrow isthmus connecting Gibraltar to mainland Spain. It is operated by the Gibraltar government and handles both civilian and military traffic, serving as a key link between the territory and the wider world. The airport is internationally renowned for its unusual runway, which intersects Winston Churchill Avenue, the main road linking Gibraltar to Spain. Vehicle traffic must be halted by barriers whenever aircraft take off or land, creating one of the most distinctive airport configurations anywhere in the world. Despite its small size, the airport connects Gibraltar to several UK destinations and select European cities, primarily through British Airways and easyJet. The terminal is compact but modern, having undergone significant redevelopment works in recent years.
