The airport is located in Silay City, roughly 14 kilometers north of Bacolod City, and handles both domestic and limited international traffic. It is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and serves as an important hub for travel in the Western Visayas region. The facility features a modern passenger terminal designed to accommodate growing tourist and business traffic to the region, which is known for its sugar industry, heritage architecture, and cuisine.
