Aeroflot-Nord was a Russian regional airline that operated as a subsidiary of Aeroflot, Russia's flagship carrier. Based in Arkhangelsk, it served domestic routes across northwestern Russia and the Arctic regions, providing connectivity to remote communities. The airline gained international attention following the tragic crash of Aeroflot-Nord Flight 821 in September 2008 near Perm, which killed all 88 people on board. The Boeing 737-500 accident was attributed to crew error and became one of Russia's deadliest aviation disasters of the decade. Following the Perm disaster and subsequent regulatory scrutiny, Aeroflot-Nord was rebranded as Nordavia in 2009, distancing itself from the accident and undergoing restructuring. The airline continued regional operations under its new identity before eventually ceasing operations.
