Empresa Ecuatoriana de Aviación, commonly known as Ecuatoriana de Aviación, was the national flag carrier of Ecuador. Founded in 1957, the airline operated domestic and international routes connecting Ecuador to destinations across the Americas and beyond, serving as a symbol of Ecuadorian aviation for decades. The airline faced significant financial difficulties during the 1990s, struggling with debt, operational inefficiencies, and increased competition from other carriers. These challenges ultimately proved insurmountable, and Ecuatoriana de Aviación ceased operations in 1993, ending its role as Ecuador's primary international carrier. At its peak, Ecuatoriana operated routes to major cities in North America, South America, and Europe, and was a notable presence in Latin American aviation. Its collapse left a significant gap in Ecuador's aviation landscape that was subsequently filled by other carriers.
