Carpatair is a Romanian regional airline founded in 1998 and headquartered in Timișoara, Romania. The airline operated scheduled passenger services primarily within Europe, with a focus on routes connecting Romania to destinations in Italy, Germany, and other European countries. In the mid-2000s, Carpatair was one of the larger regional carriers in Romania, operating a fleet of turboprop and regional jet aircraft. However, increased competition from low-cost carriers significantly impacted its business, leading to a major restructuring and the suspension of most scheduled passenger services around 2014. Following its restructuring, Carpatair shifted its focus toward aircraft maintenance, training, and ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) charter operations rather than scheduled airline services, transforming its business model considerably.
