Warton Aerodrome is a private military and industrial airfield located near Preston in Lancashire, England. It serves primarily as the main flight test and delivery centre for BAE Systems, one of the world's largest defence contractors, and is not open to the general public for commercial passenger operations. The aerodrome has been central to the development and production of numerous iconic British and European military aircraft, including the Tornado, Typhoon, and Hawk. It also plays a key role in the international Eurofighter Typhoon programme and ongoing advanced combat air systems research. Despite holding an IATA code, Warton does not operate scheduled commercial passenger services. Its runway and facilities are maintained to support large military jets, test flights, and aircraft deliveries to defence customers worldwide.
