Ulaanbaatar Chinggis Khaan International Airport (IATA: UBN, ICAO: ZMCK) is the primary international airport serving Mongolia's capital, Ulaanbaatar. It is located near Sergelen, approximately 52 kilometers southeast of the city center, and was built to replace the aging Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport (formerly known as Chinggis Khaan International Airport, IATA: ULN). The airport was developed as part of a major infrastructure initiative to modernize Mongolia's aviation capacity, with funding and construction support from South Korea. It features a modern passenger terminal designed to handle significantly more traffic than its predecessor, accommodating international and domestic routes. The facility is named in honor of Genghis Khan (Chinggis Khaan), the founder of the Mongol Empire, continuing the tradition of the previous Ulaanbaatar airport. It serves as the main hub for MIAT Mongolian Airlines and handles growing regional and intercontinental traffic.
