Kant Air Base is a Russian military installation located near the city of Kant in Chuy Oblast, Kyrgyzstan, approximately 20 kilometers east of the capital Bishkek. It serves as the primary Russian air force base in Central Asia and operates under a bilateral agreement between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. The base is home to elements of the Russian Aerospace Forces and has been used to support Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) operations in the region. It is not open to civilian air traffic and has no commercial passenger services. The facility was established in the early 2000s following Russia's desire to maintain a military presence in Central Asia after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Its strategic location makes it significant for regional security and power projection.
