İncirlik Air Base is a major military installation located near Adana in the Sarıçam district of Turkey. It is a joint-use facility operated by the Turkish Air Force and hosts a significant United States Air Force presence under NATO agreements, serving as a critical hub for regional military operations. The base has played a central role in numerous U.S. and NATO operations, including operations over Iraq and Syria. It is home to the 39th Air Base Wing of the U.S. Air Force and is widely reported to store a portion of NATO's tactical nuclear weapons under the NATO nuclear sharing arrangement. During the July 2016 coup attempt in Turkey, the base was temporarily placed under restrictions by Turkish authorities, cutting off external power and limiting U.S. flight operations for a period. The base does not serve commercial passenger traffic.
