Juana Azurduy de Padilla Air Force Base, designated by ICAO code SLSU, is a military airfield located in Sucre, the constitutional capital of Bolivia. It primarily serves Bolivian Air Force operations and is distinct from the main civilian airport serving Sucre, which is Alcantarí Airport (SLAL/SRE), opened in 2016 to replace the older Sucre Airport. The base is named in honor of Juana Azurduy de Padilla, a celebrated Bolivian independence heroine of mixed indigenous and Spanish heritage who fought against Spanish colonial rule in the early 19th century. The airfield has historically played a role in military logistics and operations in the Chuquisaca Department region. As a military installation, the base does not operate scheduled commercial passenger services. Civilian air traffic for Sucre is handled by the nearby Alcantarí Airport, which accommodates domestic flights connecting the city to La Paz and other Bolivian destinations.
