Canoas Air Force Base (SBCO) is a military airfield operated by the Brazilian Air Force (Força Aérea Brasileira) located in the city of Canoas, in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It serves primarily as a military installation and hosts units of the FAB, including fighter and support squadrons. The base is also known as Base Aérea de Canoas (BACO) and has historically housed some of Brazil's most important tactical air assets. While it carries the IATA code QNS, scheduled commercial passenger operations are not conducted here, and civilian access is restricted. The airport occasionally serves as an alternate or emergency landing facility for the Porto Alegre region, complementing the nearby Salgado Filho International Airport (SBPA). Its strategic location in southern Brazil makes it an important asset for national defense operations.
