Remote Arctic gateway serving Russia's diamond mining region.

Location
Polyarny, Yakutia, Russia
Polyarny Airport (IATA: PYJ, ICAO: UERP) is a regional airport located near the town of Polyarny in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Russia. It serves as an important air link for the remote diamond-mining communities of the region, where aviation is often the primary mode of long-distance transportation due to the lack of developed road and rail infrastructure. The airport operates under challenging Arctic conditions, including extreme cold temperatures, permafrost, and limited daylight hours in winter. It primarily handles domestic Russian flights connecting the region to larger hubs such as Yakutsk and other Siberian cities. The facility supports both passenger and cargo operations essential to the local mining industry.
Terminals
The airport has a small, single terminal typical of remote regional Russian facilities serving limited passenger volumes.
Getting to & from
Ground transport options are limited, with road access to the nearby town of Polyarny and surrounding mining settlements being the primary connection.
Airlines here
Yakutia Airlines and other regional Russian carriers have historically operated services to and from Polyarny Airport.
