Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, also known as Ault Field, is a United States Navy installation located near Oak Harbor, Washington, on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound. It serves as the Navy's premier tactical electronic warfare center on the West Coast and is the home base for the EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft. The installation encompasses two airfields: Ault Field, the primary facility, and Outlying Landing Field Coupeville, used for field carrier landing practice. The base hosts several squadrons under Commander, Electronic Attack Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and plays a critical role in training Navy and Marine Corps aviators. As a military installation, NAS Whidbey Island is not open to commercial passenger traffic. It operates under strict access controls and is primarily used for military flight operations, training exercises, and naval aviation support.
