Maafaru International Airport is located on Maafaru Island in Noonu Atoll, Maldives. It was developed to serve the growing number of luxury resorts in the northern atolls, reducing the need for lengthy seaplane transfers from Velana International Airport in Malé. The airport was funded in part by the United Arab Emirates government and was inaugurated in 2019. It is capable of handling wide-body aircraft, making it one of the more significant regional airports in the Maldives outside of the capital. The facility serves as a key entry point for tourists heading to high-end resorts in Noonu and surrounding atolls, offering both international and domestic connectivity.
