Naval Air Station Jacksonville, designated KNIP and known as Towers Field, is a primary U.S. Navy military airfield located in Jacksonville, Florida. It serves as one of the largest naval aviation complexes on the East Coast, supporting numerous fleet squadrons, training operations, and logistics missions. The installation is home to a wide variety of naval aircraft including P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, and it supports tens of thousands of military personnel and civilian employees. The base also houses the Naval Aviation Depot Jacksonville, which performs aircraft maintenance and overhaul work. While the airfield carries the IATA code NIP, it does not serve commercial passenger traffic and is restricted to military and authorized government operations. The field is named in honor of early naval aviators and remains a critical component of U.S. naval aviation infrastructure.
