McEntire Joint National Guard Base (KMMT) is a military installation located near Eastover, South Carolina, approximately 20 miles southeast of Columbia. It serves as the home of the South Carolina Air National Guard's 169th Fighter Wing, which operates F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. The base is primarily a military facility and does not serve commercial passenger traffic. It is used for combat training, readiness exercises, and support of national defense missions. The installation is named after Barney McEntire, a South Carolina National Guardsman killed in a 1961 aircraft accident. McEntire occasionally hosts public air shows and open house events that draw large crowds to the region, offering civilians a rare opportunity to view military aircraft and operations up close.
