Shirak International Airport is located approximately 5 kilometers southeast of Gyumri, Armenia's second-largest city. It serves as an important regional gateway, particularly for the Armenian diaspora community and travelers visiting the Shirak province. The airport was originally constructed during the Soviet era and has undergone various modernization efforts over the years. It handles a modest volume of international and charter traffic, supplementing the capacity of Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport.
