Southern Switzerland's gateway to the Italian-speaking Ticino region.

Location
Agno, Switzerland
Lugano Airport, officially known as Lugano-Agno Airport, is a regional airport located in Agno, in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. Serving the city of Lugano and the broader Ticino region, it sits at an elevation of approximately 915 feet above sea level near the shores of Lake Lugano. The airport handles a limited number of scheduled and charter flights, primarily connecting Lugano to destinations in Switzerland and select European cities. Its relatively short runway constrains the size of aircraft that can operate there, limiting services to smaller regional jets and turboprops. Due to its location in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland and proximity to northern Italy, Lugano Airport competes with nearby airports including Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Bergamo Orio al Serio, which offer far broader international connectivity.
Terminals
The airport has a single, compact terminal building suited to its regional traffic volumes.
Getting to & from
The airport is accessible by road via the A2 motorway, with bus connections linking it to Lugano city center and the main railway station.
Airlines here
Darwin Airline (operating as Etihad Regional) historically served the airport, along with occasional charter and business aviation operators.
Notable facts
  • The runway is approximately 1,430 meters long, limiting operations to smaller aircraft.

  • The canton of Ticino and local authorities have been primary backers of the airport's continued operation.
