Mărculești Air Base (ICAO: LUBM) is a military airfield located near the town of Mărculești in the Florești District of northern Moldova. It was originally constructed during the Soviet era and served as a base for Soviet Air Force operations. Following Moldovan independence in 1991, the facility fell into partial disuse but has periodically been discussed as a candidate for development into a civilian or cargo airport to serve northern Moldova. Limited civilian and cargo operations have been explored over the years, though the airfield remains primarily a non-commercial facility. The base features a long runway capable of handling large military aircraft, a legacy of its Soviet-era construction. Infrastructure on site is aging, and significant investment would be required to bring the facility to full civilian aviation standards.
